Cooking is a language of love. Whether you are cooking for yourself or for someone else, creating something in the kitchen is an expression of care.
Cooking for yourself is a nurturing act, it is sustenance, literally helping keep you alive!
Feeding yourself is an act of self care that even goes beyond the biological needs of the body.
The simple and yet powerful act of making food for yourself and taking the time to feed your body has a significant and positive impact on your relationship with yourself. In essence, cooking for yourself is cooking for someone you love-YOU!
Cooking can also be a way in which we express ourselves. Creative expression is essential for overall well being, so whether it’s painting a picture or baking a cake, expressing yourself is a part of self-care. In addition, cooking for other people can be a helpful way to communicate your feelings. Have you ever baked cookies for a friend or prepared a birthday dinner for a loved one as a way to show you care? The same is true when we turn that care to ourselves. Cooking for yourself sends a message to your body that YOU are important.
I invite you to take some time this week to cook or bake something for yourself to show your body some love and to remind yourself that you are important in a nurturing, delicious way!
